Chiranjeevi, Padmabhooshan and Thumbs Up

Chiranjeevi got his Padmabhooshan award on Wednesday evening. Needless to say he was extremely happy about it.

An ecstatic megastar Chiranjeevi said he was overwhelmed and feeling on top of the world, more so on seeing the happiness on the faces of his kith and kin when the big declaration came in, awarding him the Padmabhushan late on Wednesday evening. Mr. Chiranjeevi told The media that though he had received several awards of eminence, the Padmabhushan for him was the crowning glory, a permanent stamp of achievement. "By this recognition, the Government has added immense value to me, motivating me to work harder in the discharge of my social responsibility as an actor. This is a recognition bestowed on the entire Telugu film industry and I dedicate this to my fans," he said, elated.

The real winners of the Pongal Release...

I have watched all the pongal releases, Paramasivan being the last one. I don't want to give commentaries on both Paramasivan and Saravana. But who and what I remember from this year's Pongal releases are..."Drum Roll"...

1) Prakash Raj - Appeared in all the 3 Pongal release movies, out of which in 2 he was a police office.. and stole the whole show most of the times. I can safely say that the protagonist in Paramasivan is actually Prakash Raj, rather than Ajith. Always there to bring out the charachter in the story.

2) Vivek - Althought the comedian for all 3 movies, his role in the 3 movies were pretty minimal, and he was totally under-used. Could have been given more scope for his role, but his jokes were nevertheless funny. A student in Aadhi, Simbu's friend in Saravana, and a police officer cum CBI assistant in Paramasivan.

3) Camera Phones - All three movies had a use for camera phones. In Aadhi, a student uses the phone to capture girls, a rowdy uses it in Saravana, and the camera phone appears for a short while in Paramasivan when Prakash Raj uses it to still the face of the terrorist photo. It is to note that the resolution of the phones used in Aadhi and Paramasivan even beats my Konica-minolta. Wow!

I hope every child experiences the joy of a simple swing.

Watched the Hindi movie 'Murder' yesterday. I ok, but I thought that Malikka Sherawat was totally bimbotic. Loved this song... Dil Ko Hazar Bar, by Alisha Chinoy. She's got one of the most amazing voices I have heard. Very sultry and velvety. The song was sung just perfect for the situation, and music was good too... was very 60s, by Anu Malik. Lyrics are ny Rahat Indori. My choice song of the moment.. Enjoy it guys...

Clockr

The Clockr Now that you have seen the Retrievr and Tagnautica, i introduce the Clockr. Clockr is by Klingemann too.. This guy is amazing, don't ask me how he does it. Clockr is a virtual digital clock, where the digits are actually images from Flickr itself. Just lay back, and see time pass by... once in a while click on the digits, to get a diffrent style of number. I expect this to take some time to load.. so don't get impatient and run away. Flash fun man!!!

Wow, got this cool website link from Arunchaxx. It's so fun to search for images this way. Sketch what you want, and search for it. So artistic. Great idea! ஆதி...வியாதி...சீ, பீதி... I mean.. வரிப்புலி ஜாதி... A Look at Aadhi

Songs Vidyasagar has given some good melodious pieces, which are non flamboyant in the movie. The tunes will be here to stay. Both the rain songs were good, and refreshing to the ears. Dance choreography was good, Costumes were well chosen also. The dance in the beach looked good. Dialogues Aadhi scriptwriter who gave punch dialogues such as 'பிரச்சனை இல்லாத மனிஷனே இல்லை.. பிரச்சனை இல்லாதவன் மனிஷனே இல்லை...', also gave dialogues such as 'ஆதி.. நீ தானா என் மாமா?' (you will get the effect of the dialogue when you watch the movie.) For this, Vivek's 'போடுற shoe தான் ரீபோக்கு, ஆனால் அதை போடுற நான் ஒரு பொறம்போக்கு' was much better. Acting Prakash Raj, although appeared in the film for a short while, did an excellent job. Nasir, Vijayakumar both did justice to their parts. Comedy wise, Vivek was given a mega huge entry, but his role died off. There just wasn't enough time allocated for Vivek, because the villlains took up all the time there was. Vijay should seriously stop thinking that unshaven face, and shabby hair will give him a more stern look. In facts he looks like he has not washed himself for days. Trisha... I don't know...she tried to attempt something different... you tell me whether she succeeded or failed in the attempt. It is confirmed that Trisha can be the mascot for Tata Sumo. She has yet again proves her talents for being able to be easily pushed into one, and getting driven off by the villains. Advertisments Saravana Stores & Vasanth & Co. must have had their sales doubled after Aadhi release, because the stores, and its banners were the set for 'Thadakku' song and some scenes. Sunfeast sales must have tripled, given the fact that there was a whole scene dedicated for it, just for Vijay to say, 'Sunfeast, rombo nalla biscuit Aachey!' to a child. Etc. Vijay and Trisha entry into college scene gave me spasms of Deja vu... I vaguely remember times when Vijay and Jothika entering college grounds in Kushi, without them noticing each other, and students in the background. Am I dreaming or what? It was interesting that 3/4 of a big family were made up of Chinna Thirai, or small screen artistes. For many, this must have been a debut into Cinema. When Vijay recalled his family, and his family members' were introduced with slow music and close ups of their faces, for a split second I thought I was sitting for a drama serial's opening song. The climax took me aback. I wonder how come the fire department never noticed the material of shirt Vijay used for his climax fight scene. The shirt was burning for nearly 15 minutes, but when the fire died off, only had about 4 holes. Vijay's skin didn't even look sunburnt, or on the least tanned. Please take note of the shirt material, I probably missed it on the credits. Don't get me started on the violence. I think it is fated for all movies starting with the letter 'ஆ' should have as much violence as possible. Taking in mind 'Aaru', 'Aayutha Ezhuttthu', and now 'Aadhi'. I thought the movie 'Mazhai' did enough damages to Tamil Nadu, after its release, and half expected to see more and even more rain in this movie. Vijay did a Shreya dance in this movie for the song 'Thadakku'. ''Aththi Aththi Kaai' was also taken in the rain. ஆதி.. பாதி மழை. (Aadhi - Half Rain)

ஒரு மசாலாவின் கதை... A Masala Story...

I cooked just now, after like 2 years. I only cook when there is no one at home, or rather no 'adults' at home. So only me and my sis were at home just now, so I decided to whip up a really simple dish, and I made mushroom masala. It was the first time I attempted at the dish, and it turned out real good, except for the fact, that I added a tit too much chilly, and my poor sister was drinking loads of water. But in any case, I don't think what I cooked will be classified even under mildy spicy in Hyderabad. Please don't ask me how I made the dish, because frankly I am not sure myself. The ingredients I know that is inside are mushrooms, garlic, onion, ginger, water, green chilli and salt. God knows what is the masala inside, because I put in a spoonful of whatever that was inside the different bottles of masala powder my mum has. The quantity of the ingredients are also something that I did not record down, it was done by intution and taste, but the total time I took to prepare the food is like 15 min. Upon making the mushroom masala, I laid a slice of cheddar cheese on a slice of bread, and spread the piping hot masala on the cheese, and covered it with another slice of bread, and pressed it down, until the cheese melted and flowed into the masala. Than me and my sis ate it like a sandwich. I thought it was really exciting, and my sister loved it. Cooking is really a good stress reliever, provided, that you love it, you don't treat it as a chore, and you are willing to experiment. I know of many who can cook, but don't particularly like it because of the the aftermath of the cooking process, the washing up part... but I don't mind it.. because I minimise the amount of equipment I use, and I often wash utensils like the chopping board and stuff, while the dish takes time to cook. The finished process, most often gives you satisfaction, especially what you cooked turns out how you intended it to be, or sometimes even better. As for my Mushroom masala, I did not have any expectations of the dish, and it turned out fine.. so that was a pleasant surprise. When I have my own place, I will definitely make it a point to cook everyday, because me and outside food don't go together. Somehow, nothing matched the taste of food cooked at home... maybe at home, we insist on adding an extra ingredient in all our dishes.. LOVE. Adding LOVE to taste, just before bringing down the dish from the stove, perhaps makes the food tasty, and addictive.

Pongalo Pongal!!!

Today is Pongal and mum made 2 types of Pongal... Pongal with Vellam (Jaggery) and Venn Pongal, and she made a Vegetable Kootu. I wasn't able to capture the pongal pot while the pongal was overflowing. If any of you guys are not familiar about Pongal, and want to know more, I suggest you visit Jeevan's blog. He has done a pretty comprehensive entry. This is my mother's beautiful kolam, she called it the Paavakai (Bittergourd) Kolam. Cute ah? Thats me with my sister and the entrance of my flat. Oh thats not the most interesting part of the whole story... I invited an Orkut friend, Guna over for lunch at my place...it was sooo cool. It was fun talking to him, and to hear about his family and his home back on Veloor. Celebrations are so fun when you have your friends and family over. Happy Ponggal once again... பொங்கல் நல்வாழ்த்துக்கள்!

Bhogi Day...

Just came back home from this place called Serangoon Road otherwise known as Little India, or much more famously known to Singaporeans as Tekka. This is where Indians from all over Singapore (not as if Singapore is very huge) gather before any indian festival to shop and join in the celebrations. It is a custom, every Ponggal to have an exhibition related to the festival in one of the lanes there. Also, there will be some cows and goats. My sis loves the celebrations... see how she is enjoying herself. To all there, Happy Bhogi!!! Come back for my Ponggal entry tomorrow. Will try to get up some delicious Ponggal pictures!

After what seemed liked Ages, my college cult group met up at TCC Orchard, and it was oh so fun. Wish we could have spent more time... after all, we only manage to come together like once a year or so...

It amazes me, how when I call this certain person, and talk to him on the phone, it starts to rain. Without fail... Probably my phone calls are being tapped by the heavens. A call to this certain person, seems to be a call for the showers.

It's been raining continuosly for the past 3 days... and today it was shining in the day. All was well, and everything good, until I had to make a phone call, and it started pouring just when i left the office.

I am typing this huddled in a blanket. Weatherman says that the min temp today is 23 Deg. Cel...but I think the temp must be 20 Deg now. Not so much of the temp, but the cold wind, that takes the leftover drops of the rain, sends shivers down my spine. Ooooh.. Maybe I'm feeling the after effects of the rain's love for me the past few days.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Just came back after watching the Chronicles of Narnia. I don't know how many of you guys have read the book.. I have not. Am not particularly a fantasy movie fan, with the exception of Harry Potter (and that too only the book); just decided to give this one a go.

The movie was very extravagant, just like any other fantasy movies, but its exciting to watch stuff like these once in a while to just appreciate the imagination of others, and the animation work put in, the concept development etc. It is nice to explore every children's dream and fantasies of things that might or might not exist. I mean, how can you prove that there wouldn't be a whole new land of Narnia behind a particular wardrobe, without even exploring? I don't know whether any of you had imaginary friends when you were young, in the least bit... but I had a friend called PerCas (yea, it is Casper inverted). I used to sit in the school bus, leaving a space for him.. talked to him, during breaks, and totally believed he was true. I didn't care of what others tought of me. To me, it was fun living in my own world, with my own friend.

Do watch this flick, if you have some time to have fun.

Alex Tew, a 21-year-old student from a small town in England, is cleverer than you. And he is proving it by earning a cool million dollars in four months on the Internet.

The idea: turn his home page into a billboard made up of a million dots, and sell them for a dollar a dot to anyone who wants to put up their logo. A 10 by 10 dot square, roughly the size of a letter of type, costs $100.

He sold a few to his brothers and some friends, and when he had made $1,000, he issued a press release.

That was picked up by the news media, spread around the Internet, and soon advertisers for everything from dating sites to casinos to real estate agents to The Times of London were putting up real cash for pixels, with links to their own sites.

Now where do you think he got the idea from? While laying on his bed, thinking of how to pay for his Uni. This only proves one thing. Successful people don't do different things, they only do things differently. I mean, there are millions of blogs on the net, and only one guy came up with a million dollar site idea. Hats of to him. When am I going to earn my next million? When are you going to earn you next million. Maybe I might want to follow some of Thennavan's blog visit increase ideas.

To think my blog is named 'pixels of the brain' and my pixels aren't worth anything, while he is selling his pixels.

SUN TV Top Tamil Song 2005

The top tamil song of 2005, as released by SUN TV is none other than Andankaakaa from Anniyan. Much expected Raa Raa from Chandramukhi clinched the 2nd place. Andaangkaakaa was an excellent group effort. Shankar literally painted a whole village to take the song sequence. The costumes were vibrant, different and excellent. The phrase 'Rendakka Rendakka' caught the attention of all children. And of course our dear Vairamuthu has added that he has attempted to add a few இலக்கிய நயமான lines in the song, which includes:

சுட்டப் பால் போல தேகம் தான்டி உனக்கு, அதில் பாலாடை மட்டும் கொஞ்சம் விலக்கு...

Hats off to all the technicians who worked on the set of Andangkaakaa.. some of the works were only displayed for just 2-3 seconds, but the work put in must be enormous compared to the time it was broadcasted in the song in itself. Hats off to the costume designers also. No joke matching all the vibrant colours, with the sets itself. And Hats off to the location managers... How did you guys manage to convince the whole village to be painted, although at the end, they loved the facelift.

Attthi Atthikkai is a beautiful song from yet to be released Aadhi. Music by Vidyasagar. Bala has yet again cast his magic on this song. He is aptly accompanied by Saadhana Sargam. Listen to this masterpiece. I loved it the moment i heard it. Well done Vidyasagar. He has scored on this number.

Hardy / Arty for 2006?

My phone's 2 year plan is ending soon, which means, I can get a new mobile when I trade in the one I am currently using. Since the day I owned a phone, I have been using Siemens. I don't particularly like monopoly, so I didn't want to use Nokia like everybody else, and anyway, Siemens does provide some very good design and functionality that is to be explored. I have neve regretted the German Technology, other than when I recieve picture messages sent to me from Nokia phones; and thats like 99.9% of the time. At present I am using a Siemens MC60 (X-men model, as what Vinod calls it, because of the X shaped keypad), therefore the next most probable model I would get seemed to be the Siemens M75. It is a hardy model released by Siemens, for those who treat their phones like something that would go through a nuclear warfare. (It is to note that I have slammed my MC60 on a wall, drowned it in a cup of Coffee and probably dropped it more times than Kamal would have dropped his girlfriends, and it still works perfectly fine). But recently, I have been swayed by Nokia's release of the Nokia L'Amour Collection. The phones look like a traditional vintage masterpiece. I like especially the design of the 7370 model, since I have always wanted a swing design that spins open. And now I can recieve those picture messages full and nice. Should I try a Nokia this time?
