Christmas Present

The most powerful earthquake in four decades -- magnitude 9 -- ripped apart the ocean floor off Indonesia's Sumatra island, displacing millions of tons of water and sending giant waves crashing into Indian Ocean coastlines from Malaysia to East Africa. At least 216,000 people were killed, according to an assessment of government and relief agency figures by The Associated Press. The United Nations puts the number at 223,000 or more. The true toll probably will never be known. Many bodies were lost at sea and in some cases the populations of places struck were not accurately recorded.
Its been a year since we faced the attacks of the Tsunami. A year since one of the worst natural disasters the world has ever seen occured. Looking at the Tsunami affected places today, many are still mourning for their loved ones, many still waiting for aid, many still orphaned. Just when I was reading about this article, I remember another one that i recieved some time ago:
BANGKOK: Thailand's now iconic meteorologist, Dr Smith Dharmasaroja, who in Year 1998 predicted a killer tsunami would hit Thailand one day & was ignored, said S'pore & M'sia were also in danger from a future earthquake and tsunami. A big earthquake with a more northerly epicentre than the Dec 26 quake will generate a tsunami which will have a more direct route down to the Straits of Malacca, swamping S'pore and M'sia." during the month of december 05' and january 06'. "As the sea passage narrows, more water will build up and the wave will become bigger. S'pore is relatively low-lying & quite flat, and would be badly affected.
So, tsunami in Singapore tomorrow? I am the least worried about it. I will just wait for Padagappa to come and save me. But in case I am not around tomorrow, Have a Great Holiday everyone and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
